The Moose Mavericks RV Club and the Eagles Roamers RV Club joined together for the annual combined campout at Quartzsite, Arizona. Twenty seven rigs motored to that wide spot in the desert January 22nd for the four day outing. We joined up with ten's of thousands of RV's from all over the United States who were camping either in campgrounds or just dry camping on BLM lands.
Our thanks to Terry and Dottie Roberts of the Eagles Roamers for hosting this event for us. They arrived early and staked out sufficient land so that when the caravan arrived there was room to 'circle the wagons'. Also they arranged for pot luck dinners and a scrumptious breakfast leaving the rest of us more time to shop the flea markets and to see what's new at the RV vendor exhibits.
Weather wise, it could have been better, high winds that normally last three days arrived early Wednesday and remained on schedule. Fortunately, the Hoggins's had a add-on room to their RV that served as a wind break for setting up the potluck dinner, otherwise we would have had more sand than soup.
One unfortunate situation occurred and one of our members was air lifted to the Heart Institute in Phoenix. The good news is she was discharged and able to return to the camping area by Friday evening.
Other than that above, all reported having a good time and all enjoyed the Quartzsite 2002 shows and expect to return next year.......
